LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT)

In this era of education becoming a huge competition, choosing the best university is a challenging task for students. LUMS is a top-ranking not-for-profit private sector university that offers bachelor's degree programs in business disciplines, along with several master's degree programs and a Faculty-Development Doctorate Degree program. LUMS University also offers a Bachelor's in film media, Computer Science and Information Technology.

LCAT is a common admission test to get admission to any undergraduate degree. This test is conducted by Lahore University of Management Sciences. This entrance test is now mandatory for admission to the undergraduate programs.

The candidates will appear in a single test only and will stand eligible for admission to all LCAT-associated universities in the respective subject group.

Why LCAT is important for students seeking admission to University?

The LCAT is important for Intermediate students in Pakistan because it is a mandatory requirement to get admission to management sciences programs at LUMS. The test evaluates students' knowledge in subjects such as Mathematics, Quantitative, and verbal English. Achieving a good score on the LCAT can greatly impact a student's chances of getting admission to a prestigious institute in Pakistan.

What is the minimum score for qualifying LCAT and does that guarantee admission to the university?

The marks required for admission to a specific program at   LUMS can vary from year to year based on factors such as the number of applicants and the overall performance of the applicants. However, it's generally advisable to aim for high marks in the LCAT exam to increase your chances of admission at LUMS and some other universities. Typically, a strong performance in the LCAT exam, along with meeting other admission criteria, can improve your chances of securing admission to any engineering program.

In LCAT the total marks are 100. The passing marks for the LCAT are 60%.

What is the validity period of LCAT?

The validity period of the LCAT is only for the year the candidate appears for it. The result of the LCAT stands void after the admission session of that year ends.

Is the LCAT the same as the SAT?

When applying to LUMS, the LCAT (LUMS Common Admission Test) takes the place of the SAT. Tests like the SAT, LCAT, and ACT are acceptable for a variety of LUMS programs. You can also watch the provided video about LUMS admissions.

The math on the LCAT is much more difficult than on the SAT-I. Sometimes they ask questions from FSC and A-Level Math. On the other hand, English is easier than SAT-I in comparison.

What is the format of LCAT?

The LCAT has seven (7) sections, all are required to pass.

Each of the first two sections—Verbal and Math—takes 30 minutes.

The remaining five sections are each 25 minutes long, consisting of two Verbal sections, two Math sections, and either a Verbal or Math section for the final 25-minute section.

The LCAT is a multiple-choice test with questions that are comparable to those on the SAT I. It assesses reading, writing, and math abilities like the SAT I. There is NO essay section on the LCAT.
